Thread vein treatment in Puerto Banús, Marbella
Laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment of small visible vessels and diffuse redness, on the face or elsewhere. It always starts with a consultation: the doctor examines your skin, confirms what it is and suggests a plan.

What does it involve?
The light is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the treated vessels and turned into heat. The walls of those capillaries close and the body gradually reabsorbs them, which is why the appearance can keep improving over the following weeks.
Redness and visible capillaries have different causes from one person to another, and the sun can make them more visible. The doctor assesses your skin, chooses the technique and tells you whether maintenance sessions may help.

How it goes
Consultation and diagnosis
The doctor examines your skin or the lesion, reviews your history and medication, and tells you whether the treatment is right for you. If a lesion needs further tests, we tell you first.
Preparation
We clean the area and, depending on the treatment, apply a cooling gel or an anaesthetic cream. With laser or pulsed light, you wear protective glasses throughout the session.
Session
We apply the device to the area with settings adapted to your skin. You may feel warmth or tingling; the sensation varies from person to person.
Afterwards
Redness or slight swelling is common and generally short-lived. Avoid direct sun, use high-factor sun protection on the area and follow the instructions we give you for the following days.
Good to know
The doctor assesses in consultation whether the treatment is right for you. As a rule it is not performed during pregnancy, on tanned or recently sun-exposed skin, or if there is an infection or a wound in the area. Some medicines make the skin more sensitive to light: please tell us about all your medication, allergies and previous treatments, any tendency to keloid scars or to dark marks after inflammation, and whether you have a pacemaker or another implant.
Your questions
When can I see the result?
An improvement may show soon after the session, but the final appearance is assessed once the body has reabsorbed the treated vessels, generally after a few weeks. It varies from person to person.
Can they come back?
Other capillaries can appear over time, depending on your skin type, the sun and other factors. Sun protection helps, and maintenance sessions are sometimes recommended.
Do I have to stop my normal routine?
Generally you can carry on with your activities. The area may stay slightly red for a short time. Avoid direct sun and use high-factor protection, as the doctor advises.
Laser or IPL?
It depends on the type and size of the vessels, the area and your skin. The doctor chooses the technique in consultation and explains why.
