Barbed thread lift
Absorbable threads placed under the skin by the doctor, under local anaesthesia, to give a tightening effect to areas that have lost firmness. It all starts with a consultation: the doctor assesses whether threads are right for you and how many are needed.

What does it involve?
Barbed threads have small barbs that hold onto the tissue. The doctor first marks the areas, disinfects the skin and applies local anaesthesia, then carefully inserts the threads along the marked lines. The procedure usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.
The threads are absorbable: the body clears them over time, and they may stimulate collagen production. It is a non-surgical option, with a more subtle effect than a surgical facelift; the doctor explains in consultation what you can expect in your case. It is mainly used on the face and neck, and on some body areas after a medical assessment.

How it goes
Consultation
We assess your skin, the firmness of the areas and what you would like. We explain what you can realistically expect and, if a non-surgical technique is not enough in your case, we tell you.
Preparation
We cleanse the skin and mark the agreed areas. Depending on the technique, local anaesthesia is applied or we explain how we keep you comfortable.
Session
The chosen technique is carried out on the areas agreed with you. The duration depends on the technique and the number of areas.
Afterwards
Redness, swelling or a small bruise may appear, usually temporary. We give you written aftercare, including sun protection, and suggest a follow-up.
Good to know
These techniques do not replace surgery and the effect varies from person to person. As a rule they are not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, nor if there is an active infection or lesion in the area. Please tell us about your medication, especially blood thinners, your allergies, whether your skin is tanned and your previous treatments.
Your questions
How many threads do I need?
It depends on the area and the condition of the skin. The doctor tells you in consultation and we give you a written quote before we start.
Is it painful?
It is done under local anaesthesia for your comfort. You may feel pressure or tightness; the sensation varies from person to person.
What happens afterwards?
A small bruise or some swelling may appear, usually fading within a few days. Most people return to their routine quickly; we give you written aftercare instructions.
How long does the effect last?
It depends on each person, the area and the condition of the skin. The threads are absorbed over time; the doctor gives you a guide in consultation.
Does it replace a surgical facelift?
No. It is a non-surgical option with a more subtle effect. If it is not enough in your case, the doctor will tell you plainly.
