Microneedling in Puerto Banús, Marbella
A device with very fine needles creates thousands of micro-channels in the skin to stimulate its own renewal processes. It all starts with an assessment of your skin: we tell you whether the treatment is suitable and how many sessions to plan.

What does it involve?
The controlled micro-perforations trigger the skin’s natural repair process, which produces collagen and elastin. It is mainly performed on the face, and also on the neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, abdomen or back. It is carried out with sterile equipment and, as a rule, after an anaesthetic cream.
The session lasts 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. Afterwards you may notice mild redness and swelling for a couple of days; most people get back to their activities straight away. Changes appear gradually over several weeks as the skin repairs itself.

How it goes
Assessment
We examine your skin and what you would like to improve. If microneedling is not right for you, we tell you.
Preparation
We cleanse and disinfect the skin and usually apply a topical anaesthetic cream.
Treatment
Using sterile equipment, the device creates micro-channels in the area agreed with you.
Afterwards
Mild redness or swelling may appear for a couple of days. We give you written aftercare, with hydration and sun protection.
Good to know
We first assess whether microneedling is right for you. As a rule it is not performed during pregnancy, nor on skin with an active infection, a cold sore, wounds or inflamed acne. Please tell us about your allergies and medication, especially if you take anticoagulants, and whether you tend to form raised scars. If you have a dark spot or a lesion in the area, one of our doctors examines it first.
Your questions
Is it painful?
It can cause slight discomfort. That is why we usually apply an anaesthetic cream before we start.
How many sessions?
Several are usually recommended, 4 to 6 weeks apart so that the skin can repair between them. The number is decided after the assessment.
What happens afterwards?
There may be mild redness and swelling for a couple of days, which usually pass. We recommend hydration and sun protection in the following days, and give you written instructions.
How does it differ from nano needling?
In microneedling, the needles pass through the surface of the skin to create controlled micro-injuries. In nano needling, the needles are finer and work only on the surface, mainly to help the skin absorb actives.
