Profhilo® is a high-concentration hyaluronic acid injected into the skin to work on its hydration, tone and texture; it is not a filler. It all starts with a consultation: the doctor assesses your skin and tells you whether the treatment makes sense for you.
What does it involve?
Profhilo® contains hyaluronic acid in high concentration, a substance naturally present in the skin. The doctor injects it with a fine needle at five points on each side of the face, and the product spreads under the skin to hydrate it. It also aims to stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin.
It is used mainly on the face, and can also be considered for the neck, hands, arms or knees. It is suitable for women and for men. The number of sessions is decided in consultation, according to the condition of your skin.

How it goes
Consultation
We examine your skin and talk about what you want. The doctor explains which treatment may suit you and how many sessions to plan, or tells you if now is not the time.
Preparation
We cleanse and disinfect the skin. Depending on the treatment, we first apply a topical anaesthetic cream for your comfort.
Treatment
The doctor makes the injections with a fine needle in the areas agreed with you.
Afterwards
Redness, slight swelling or a small bruise may appear, usually fading within a few days. We give you written aftercare instructions and, if there are several sessions, agree the schedule with you.
Good to know
The doctor assesses in consultation whether the treatment is right for you. As a rule it is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, nor if there is an active infection or inflammation in the area. Please tell us about your allergies, your medication, especially anticoagulants, and your previous treatments. Changes in the skin are assessed over the weeks and vary from person to person.

They are usually assessed after the first or second session, and vary from person to person. We suggest a follow-up to review them with you.
How long does the effect last?
As a guide, about six months or a little longer, depending on how each skin responds. To maintain it, the treatment can be repeated periodically, always on medical advice.
Is it painful?
You may feel slight discomfort from the needle. We apply an anaesthetic cream beforehand for your comfort.
Is it a filler?
No. Profhilo® does not aim to add volume or change your features, but to work on skin quality. If you want volume in a specific area, the doctor will talk you through other options.
What can happen afterwards?
As a rule you can return to your usual activities the same day. Redness, slight swelling or a small bruise may appear at the injection points, usually fading within a few days. We give you written aftercare instructions.
